Spring social #1

We are a sociable bunch at the Mortimer Group, and recently I went along to one of my favourite events.

The event in question was Nottingham City Business Club March 2025 lunch, and not only did I delight in the food, drink and casual networking, I also acted as table host, welcoming ten other business leaders to share my table and enjoy the afternoon.

The guest speaker this month was branding and design consultant Fernanda Rizzo who delivered her presentation  titled “Connecting Dots for Success,” Fernanda guided us through the essentials of branding—explaining not only what branding is, but also why it matters, how it can fuel business growth, and why customers are more likely to choose our brand over a competitor if our brand is coherent and trustworthy.

Using real-life examples from iconic brands like Duolingo, Patagonia, and Monzo that disrupted their markets, Fernanda illustrated the power of effective branding and left us with plenty to reflect on.

I’m currently enjoying our 7th year of membership of this iconic business club, and value the benefits it brings to us as a business, but also grateful for the many new friendships we’ve developed over the years. Hopefully, I might see some of you at an event soon!
